Dubai’s Sustainable City launches autonomous delivery robot trial
The Sustainable City in Dubai has launched a pilot program for autonomous delivery robots in partnership with Dubai Future Labs and Lyve Global. This initiative aims to provide efficient delivery services from restaurants and shops in the plaza area to residents using three advanced robots developed by Dubai Future Labs.
Technological Advancements
“These innovative robots have been specifically designed to ensure swift delivery of products within a remarkable timeframe of just under 30 minutes, while being fully equipped to navigate their surroundings safely and efficiently, with the capability to identify charging stations, eliminating the requirement for human intervention,” said, Director of Dubai Future Labs at Dubai Future Foundation.
Dubai Robotics and Automation Program
The introduction of these delivery robots aligns with the objectives of the “Dubai Robotics and Automation Program,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, in September 2022.
Features and Integration
The robots feature a Fleet Management System with real-time tracking, a back-end order fulfillment system by Lyve Global, and a secured delivery compartment accessible only by the customer.
“We have successfully created synergy between sustainable communities and advanced technologies. The Sustainable City in Dubai tests the applicability of various ideas and integrated solutions. It is an ideal location for piloting autonomous delivery robots and their future deployment,” stated, GM of NZE Solutions at SEE Holding.
Supporting Dubai’s Vision
This project supports Dubai’s goal to make 25 percent of trips autonomous by 2030 and enhances the city’s vision to become the world’s smartest city.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Dubai Future Labs in deploying cutting-edge delivery robots in the Sustainable City, marking a significant step forward in our mission to revolutionize logistics,” added, Chief Executive Officer at Lyve Global.
Controlled Testing Environment
The trial began this month in the car-free residential clusters of The Sustainable City, providing a safe and controlled environment for testing the technology and ensuring resident safety.
