New RTA Bus Service to Damac Hills 2 Begins July1
Starting July 1, residents of Damac Hills 2, a suburban community on the outskirts of Dubai, will benefit from a new public bus service. The new route, DA2, will be operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), with a flat fare of Dh5 per trip.
Route Details
The DA2 bus route will navigate through the clusters of Damac Hills 2 before heading to Dubai Studio City. Buses will depart every two hours, with the first trip at 5.47 am and the last at 9.32 pm daily. The newly installed RTA signboards at bus stops provide these details.
Relief for Residents
This new service is expected to alleviate the transportation challenges faced by many residents, who currently rely on driving or the often-overcrowded free shuttle buses provided by the community management. For those without cars, like Filipino expat Linda Panganiban, the new bus route offers a significant cost-saving alternative to the expensive taxi rides, which can range from Dh90 to Dh100.
“This RTA bus will definitely be a big help. Imagine the difference from a Dh100 taxi ride to a Dh5 bus trip. The commute will definitely be longer — but I don’t mind. The savings will be worth it,” said Panganiban.
Increased Accessibility
The DA2 bus will take commuters to Dubai Studio City, where they can transfer to another bus to reach the Metro, enhancing the overall connectivity for residents of Damac Hills 2.
Popularity of Damac Hills 2
In recent years, Damac Hills 2 has gained popularity among residents looking for affordable townhouses. In 2021, the annual rent for a three-bedroom villa in the area was as low as Dh40,000, making it an attractive option for many.
This new RTA bus service is a welcome addition, providing a cost-effective and convenient transportation solution for the growing community.
Environmental Benefits
Beyond the immediate financial relief for residents, the new bus service also presents environmental advantages. By reducing the number of private vehicles on the road, the DA2 route contributes to lowering the community’s carbon footprint. This aligns with Dubai’s sustainability goals, encouraging residents to shift from private car usage to public transportation, thus fostering a more eco-friendly urban environment.
