Dubai Metro remains the leading mode of public transport in the city, with 37% of the total 361.2 million public transport riders in the first half of 2024 opting for this service. The Dubai Metro’s extensive network and efficiency continue to make it a preferred choice among commuters. Dubai Taxis also played a significant role, capturing 27% of the total public transport usage.
High Traffic at Major Stations
Among the busiest transit points, BurJuman and Union stations stand out. BurJuman station recorded an impressive 7.8 million passengers, while Union station followed closely with 6.3 million users. These stations are crucial nodes in Dubai’s public transport system, reflecting their importance in managing high passenger volumes.
Increased Public Transport Usage
According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), there was a notable six percent increase in the number of public transport users compared to the first half of 2023. The total number of riders grew from approximately 340.5 million in the same period last year to 361.2 million in 2024. The daily average ridership has also seen an uptick, reaching 1.98 million compared to 1.88 million in the previous year.

Dubai’s public transport system is diverse, encompassing the Metro, Tram, public buses, marine transport, taxis, e-hail vehicles, smart rental vehicles, and on-demand buses.
